Why? It’s just stating the fact that having less kids will mean less consumption which is better for the environment. That’s a harsh truth, and to suggest that people should stop at two kids is putting it lightly.
I’m not saying that your a bad person if you have more, and who knows? … your 3rd kid could grow up to invent the next great renewable energy source that basically saves the world.
But you should give it some thought first. I’m using this map to teach high school kids about climate change, and all I’m going to do is suggest that if they are thinking of having 3,4,5+ kids (not that most of them would have given it much thought at that point) have a think about it first.

Scientific reports (IPCC), compiled by 2500 of the worlds best scientists, have concluded that humans are the cause of global warming. Unlike in the past, the warming is not natural. It’s man made.
For this reason, we have to do everything we possibly can to cutback our greenhouse gas emissions.

I lovew that Mind chart i just went though and looked at all the endangered animals that are endanered because of ethier defforestation or other ways HUMANS are envollved there are well over 6000 sepecies of animals and birds that are being killed off every day because we are to cheap aor to lazy to become more earth friendly. we are kiiling are planet and most people are doing absolutly nothing about it is we go on like this are childrens children wont have tigers or polar pears like we do the will have the polution germ infesseted mess we call earth as thier home and they wont be able to fix it!!!!

I agree with “Globally Warm” about all of the spelling and grammar mistakes. I really shouldn’t be talking, but I really think you would benefit for your cause if you all typed as if you had half a brain. If you’re using slang like “B4″ or “fab” you’re going to sound like a bunch of hippie idiots. I know you all care about global warming and so do I, thats why you need to stand up and show everybody that this is serious and that you know what you’re taking about. Do not just write in capitols thinking that it makes you stand out more then the others. Get off the computer and go do something about it! You’re wasting electricity anyways
Thanks to the artist and the masterminder behind it, little things can teach us many things. I thinkthe leaders in the world should encourage his/her peoples more aware of it. I think if we all can work together, we might reduce global warming. It is our duty to do something about it, and ask oters to do it. I just wanna say, Globally warm shouldn’t hart that small girl, she tried her best.

wow, you guys do realize we can’t stop anything, just like we didn’t make this happen. global warming is happening on other planets as well, and even if we cut back on the greenhouse gasses it won’t make a difference, personally, i don’t think we’re all going to perish, let alone have a global flood. We also aren’t the only things producing greenhouse gasses (like volcanoes and stuff), and have you ever thought, maybe it’s just the sun getting hotter if it’s happening on other planets? Anyway, that’s just my opinion, although the mindmap is good, and we shouldn’t need global warming for us to follow the mindmap, half of it we should already be doing (like walking or bikeing and stuff). Anyway, i’m just 13 too, but this is just my opinion.

Look at the January temps currently and right now today in the US. Cold Very COLD! Last year (in January, 2007) we had the coldest month in 28 years in Phoenix. Freeze warnings in 07′ spread from California to Florida as the citrus crop was hammered by the frezing temps. Did you all notice the price of orange juice over the past 12 months? Twice as expensive per gallon than gasoline.
Interesting the posts here on this site all agree, like Lemmings and jump without reservation. You talk about the scientists, but plenty others do disagree or have yet to confirm this theory of man cause global warming. This ‘learning’ chart is a carbon pile of cr*p.
The sun, among the most powerful things in our universe, is seldom talked about unless it’s contained in a phrase about greenhouse gasses here on Earth. Without the sun, we would be frozen. The sun is not static, but very much alive and violent…and ever-changing mass of super plasmic energy. This energy does indeed affect (among other things) our climate, and thus affecting the oceans that drive our climate. Regardless of what man does, or does not do, change is CONSTANT in our universe and inside our earth’s atmosphere.
So, now what? Greet the newest ‘industry’ to capitalism: Green Technologies!
In the long run, this new ‘industry’ we are buying into might not be so hot (no pun intended) down the road. I fear the worst, such as the new ‘green’ light bulb over next 20 years adding to harmful mercury levels in our soil and drinking water…now that will wreck your day.
I went to see Al Gores web site, and his calculator to assess an individuals ‘global foot print, and I can see the flaws in his ‘calculator’. Try it yourself, and see if you think it’s the joke I and many others do.
Finally, this ‘learning’ chart asks people to only have a family with two children… and this proves to me you are all global fanatics, hell bent to have big brother control us all.
I guess this might be the beginning of a new religion for you Lemmings, the Church of Global Warming.
I enjoy conservation, and I do want for our planet to elevate ecology. However, I caution all of you to not buy into this hook-line, and sinker.

Everyday our wourld is being affected by global warming. If people were more educated and were aware of really how bad it’s getting then maybe they would realise that we need to take action befor its too late . The sooner the better cause sooner or later were all going to have to deal with the consequences of what we are doing to our planet. take action befor its too later!.
Um… not to burst your bubble but isn’t Mars warming? I mean I’m just says if Mars is warming AND earth is warming… doesn’t that mean that maybe, just maybe its not ALL OUR FAULT? How come there is not picture of nuclear power on the mind map? you do know that nuclear power is 100%(that means perfect) CLEAN AND EFFICENT? Please, people, if we are to address global climate change, let’s stay as close to fact as possible. First, as relates to overpopulation, IF there are 6 billion people on earth (at best, a guess), they would all fit at typical suburban density in an area the size of Texas. While that is not a likely outcome, it illustrates the relationship of population and the habitable world. We are hardly overpopulating the planet.
Second, IF, in fact, the temperature at the equator is rising, so is the volume of evaporation. The upper air moves from the Equator to the poles, so the increased water vapor would result in more snowfall over the poles. Increased snow at the poles would result in reduced radiant heating from the sun, making the poles colder. Colder polar temperatures would create more intense frontal activity and extreme winter weather. Wait, now it sounds like I’m describing global COOLING!
Scientists can’t tell us with any degree of certainty what the weather will be like the day after tomorrow, but we lose sleep over their 100 year predictions? Wake up, people!

He has proposed the perfect solution to the climate change problem.
Why not dump the 1.5 billion Chinese that are turning China into
a smog hole, and the other 1.4 billion Indians that are doing the
same to India, and another 3 billion people from the rest of the
world into TEXAS.
They would quickly turn Texas into a barren Mars-scape but it
would allow the rest of the world to recover from the effects
of human activities.
A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR SAVING HUMANITY AND THE EARTH.
E-V-I-D-E-N-C-E. Empirical (based on, concerned with, or verifiable by experience or observation. rather than theory or pure logic) Evidence that anything we do/stop doing will affect the earth’s current warming cycle, that’s all I ask.
All the AGW crowd has to offer are the opinions of some scientists based more or less on computer models. The problem with computer models is that their designers make assumptions. Since computers can’t yet create knowledge, a model will use the designers’ assumptions as parameters for findings. Therefore, a model that finds that man’s industrial progress causes the planet to warm must have been written to assume that cause/effect relationship. Rather than evidence, such findings are self-fulfilled prophesy. Opinions based on such findings are nothing more than guesses.
AGW skeptics like me might change our minds if we were provided some real evidence, but all we get is snobbery and derision … and assurances from a third-rate political hack that we are doomed by the internal combustion engine.

your speech at our school was fantastic! i think in the long run, even if global warming isnt really happening, its better to be safe than sorry. and the earth really is suffering in many ways from human activites, through things like eutrophication, desertification, the greenhouse effect, etc. i dont understand how 12 year olds are trying to lecture everyone on why it isnt happening, and yes, you can tell you havent reached puberty by your lack of maturity, you cannot listen to what anyone else has to say, and your tragic spelling in capitals gives it away.

this is a bunch of crap! if you look at the facts 90% of climate change is the result of the sun. is it any wonder why we are in a cooling pattern right now, we’re in the 24th solar cycle and the sun has almost no sunspots, which leads to a cooler earth temperature. i do agree that we need to be responsible and take care of the earth ,but this notion that were soo bad and we dont care is a lie . the media is so biased of the issue that its scary; check out Global Warming Censored to see just how biased they are.

Ok, fist of all, my reply to “tree hugging liberal” you offered me a whole bunch of suggestions about the future events if global warming were to occur, and your only piece of evidence (somewhat) was “The climate is changing as we have seen with melting snow and glaciers, higher temperatures and rising sea levels.” My reply to that evidence is – I don’t see any climate changing, what climate changing, try to give me something a little more specific please. There is no melting snow, here in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada we have set a new record for snowfall, as with many other areas in Canada this year. And as for the melting glaciers, well it’s just a pattern, nothing to actually be fretting about. We usually look at the last (at most) 100 years or so when we talk about global warming, and the melting glaciers, but in reality, global warming has occurred many, MANY times in the past billions of years, so who’s to say, if there is one now, that it’s man made? And back to the “melting glaciers”, well, we’ve only been keeping record of these things for less than 100 years or so, so who’s to say that glaciers don’t come and go? So back to my point, still no evidence.
Now for my reply to “chaz” thank you, that’s a little more like what i was looking for. Just to let you know, the movie “an inconvenient truth” was banned from being shown in schools because of false evidence and charts on global warming, so yes, I’m not convinced with that movie. Now for the Internet, oh boy, do you know how many people own a website? I don’t, but I’m sure it’s a lot, and I’m absolutely positive that out of those people more than half of what is written is not the truth and hasn’t been proven. i want to stop global warming as much as the next “tree huger” or “nature freak” sometimes probably more even though i am a young person (between 10 and 15). And by the way, studies show that traveling by airplane loweres global temperatures (they still do leave CO2 emissions), due to the jet strams left behind, which filter some UV rays. The days after September 11,2001, temperatures rose afew degrees, because all planes were grounded, and therfore, less jet streams made of water vapor, left by the planes.Other than that, suggesting recycling, saving energy, and group transportation, is all a good way for us as individuals to battle global warming. There is less deforestation (trees, in a way,absorb CO2, so getting rid of them is bad), less waste of energy, less pollution, and better ways to create energy without out pollution, by using solar power.
Im all for saveing the planet but little things like that will only slow it down… not STOP Global Warming

Global warming is rubbish!! There’s NO evidence that CO2 is warming the earth… the clima has always been changeing, we are just in the beginning of an new ice age. If you study this you will see that this whole thing is a fraud. Nature puts 33 times as much CO2 into the air through decay as humans produce, and the oceans exchange CO2 with the atmosphere 19 times as fast as humans produce it. The reason why CO2 levels in the atmosphere have been increasing is because warmer oceans release more CO2. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a measure of global, average ocean temperatures.
I think global warming is ruining our part of nature. and some parents want to see their kids to grow up and get married. and the Holocene is melting the ice from global warming and sooner or later the earth is gonna flood. even though god promised he would never flood the earth again. So i believe he wont!!!! plus i dont wanna die!!!!! i want to grow up get a job and possibly get married. lol i am a very good child!!!! at times but oh well dat dont have anything 2 do wit it!!! peace out

·Stop procrastinating and get into action!
·Recycle, reduce, reuse
·Tell others about this growing problem and spread the message
·Turn off lights when you leave a room or your home and use energy efficient bulbs
·Turn off the computer and TV when not in use
·Take shorter showers
·Instead of using air conditioning, dress lightly in the summer and use a fan. Instead of turning up the heat, dress warmly during the winter months
·Plant a tree
·Write to your country’s politicians to tell them you are worried about climate change. If enough people send angry letters, politicians will have to do something.
·Persuade your parents to change their driving habits…and their car.

We are not only killing the polar bears , we are also killing ourselves , because when all the ice has melted , the water will overflow and we will be dead . Everything that God has created for us , he created it for a reason , not for decoration . Now it is almost impossible to stop global warming because nobody listens .

Apparently, you dont know about the fact if 500 people fly in one plane to fly 2000 miles, versus 100 people in 5 buses for 2000 miles, your taking more gas with the buses. and guess what. If you look at peer reviewed scientific papers in the area of aviation emissions, you’ll see that the emissions from plane travel have 2-4 times more global warming effect than carbon dioxide from the same amount of fuel used by a road vehicle.
In relation to eating meat: livestock beltch out methane and nitrous oxide (potent greenhouse gases). Large amounts of energy are also required to process meat and grow feed crops. In actual fact, being vegan is a great thing. Becoming a vegan can save more greenhouse gases than using a hybrid vehicle.
It takes petroleum to create plastic bags which on average we only use for 12 minutes before we throw them away into landfill. Seems like a waste to me.

Bob there are 6.55 billion people on the earth at present. Never before has there been so many people on planet earth.
I’m not saying don’t have any babies, I’m saying we need to reduce the number of babies we are having to be more sustainable, to make sure future generations can have as good a life (if not better) than us. The earth, with its finite resources, can only handle so many people.

I’m teaching this stuff to my pupils now and they are usng mind maps to explore the causes, effects and possible solutions to the problems. It’s hard to get them to see that there is still hope though because so much of the material and media output is so negative.

You forgot one – don’t drink bottled water. Producing and transporting the bottle causes a lot of carbon emmissions.
Hi, me again. You also might mention TerraPass, which allows fliers, drivers or anyone really to buy offset energy credits from renewable energy sources. So basically you’re offsetting your own emmissions by making sure that the same amount of other emmissions don’t happen elsewhere because they are now powered by clean energy.

I really like this mind-map for Global Warming, it colorfully and accurately shows what the individual can do, on multiple levels, to combat Global Warming.
Personally, I think the two children point is the best solution presented on the map. At 6.8 billion people on the planet currently, the overpopulation of humans on earth is one of the greatest reasons for Global warming. Think about it. . .
